Claudio Aguirre, Managing Partner and Co-Chairman.
Mr Aguirre has had a long career in corporate finance spanning more than 24 years before founding Altamar Capital Partners in 2004. During this time, he was Head of Spain for Chase Manhattan Bank and then for Goldman Sachs Investment Banking from 1980 to 1994. From 1994 to 2003, he was Head of Investment Banking and Wealth Management Services for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Merrill Lynch. As CEO of Merrill Lynch for EMEA, he was responsible for private equity in the region. He also led the privatisation and acquisition processes that took place in Spain in the 1990s, including Telefónica, Repsol and Endesa, and developed an important network of professional contacts in Europe and the United States.
He holds a degree in Economics and Business Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid, an MBA from the Madrid Business Institute and an AMP from Harvard Business School. He is also a registered representative with the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) and a Series 7 and 63 representative with the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) in New York. He is currently a member of the International Advisory Board of Goldman Sachs & Co.
